Wood-printing is an art style that was introduced to Japan about 1200 years ago and has been evolving ever since. Tucked away in a narrow alley is the hundred-year-old Takezasado, where a myriad of wood-print-design products are housed. The fifth generation owner, Takenaka Kenji, personally conducts wood-print workshops for interested visitors to experience the traditional art form. This Japanese-styled shop has many wood-print works on display made by the in-house artists, ranging from paintings to book covers, bookmarks, notepads et cetera. Every work is infused with the unique Kyoto flavour and warmth.
